Cinemas & Movie Theaters in Quito
The film market in Quito has developed significantly in recent years. In Quito, there are many different movie theaters, which present a variety of film genres.
The best way to spend an evening at the movies is through planning ahead. Before anything, decide which type of movie you would like to see, check on the schedules of the film and arrive early to buy the tickets.
The main good quality theaters in Quito are Cinemark (America and Naciones Unidas Avenues), Multicines (Amazonas and Naciones Unidas Avenues), Movie Center (Tumbaco) and Ocho y Medio (in the La Floresta neighborhood) The prices of tickets vary by theater. Cinemark and Multicines are the most expensive: tickets are $3.90 on the weekends. There are set days where the tickets are less expensive, and there are also special offers, such as with Cinemark , which offers tickets at $1.80 one day a month.
Ocho y Medio is the least expensive theater for students, who, when they present their student ID cards can buy a ticket for $1.90. This theater also has a café in the lobby.
The times of the films are published daily in the main newspapers of the city.
General commercial films are mostly shown in Cinemark, Multicines and other theaters throughout the city. Ocho y Medio, the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana and the Octaedro (next to the Quicentro Shopping Mall) usually show more art films.
